International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in their respective communities. IEEE-WIE-GRIET celebrated Women’s day on March 8th 2014 in GRIET in full spirit. The main focus of this session was looking ahead to capture the untapped potential and give a holistic idea on opportunities that await future generations of women. The event started with a presentation elevating and acknowledging successful women who have crossed barriers and are successful in their respective fields. The first event started at 1PM. About 25 girls participated in the 45-min-Essay writing competition held on the topic, “Status of Women in India”. The afternoon was brightened up by Mrs. J Madhuri, presently working in Jarus, a Pittsburgh based company and has had 15 years of experience as a HR in training professionals in software and hospitality based companies, who joined us for a talk on “How to face an interview?”She gave us very useful pointers on maintaining the right Attitude, body language, team spirit and a healthy attitude. The talk ended at 3:30. These sessions attempted to give a direction to the potential and enthusiasm of many young women and gave them a clear idea on their scopes for the future.
